Avantguard in the Community

Sep 2016 - Woodingdean Wanderers Sponsors

A lot of the mobile security work which we carry out is in the Falmer and Woodingdean area and we have links with a lot of the local businesses in the area.

It's a great little community and this year we decided to sponsor the Woodingdean Wanderers Under 11s Football Club.

Together with Circa Deli, our sponsorship has paid for tracksuits for the whole team and we think they look great.

Good look for the season ahead.

Dec 2015 - Worthing Churches Homeless Project Christmas Catalogue

This year, instead of buying Christmas Cards we have elected to donate to the Worthing Churches Homeless Project who do a fantastic job of providing support and shelter for rough sleepers in the area.

There are many projects which WCHP provide to help tackle homelessness including day centres, community housing, outreach centres, breakfast clubs and recovery assistance.

Visit their website to see their Christmas Catalogue of donations and gift ideas for their ongoing projects.

Avantguard have chosen to fund the running of the St Clare's Day Centre for 2 days and also a donation to provide breakfast for a rough sleeper for 4 weeks.

Apr 2015 - Findon Downs Dog Show

Once again, the Findon Downs Dog Show at Fontwell Park Racecourse was a great success.

For the second year running now, Avantguard have sent 3 of our team as volunteers to help with car parking arrangements.

It's a great fun event with all sorts of doggy related events on show.

Dec 2014 - Stonepillow Christmas Appeal

This year, instead of buying Christmas Cards to send out to our clients, we used our Christmas Card budget to give a donation to Stonepillow.  Stonepillow are a local charity providing shelter and help for homeless and vulnerable people.

This year Stonepillow launched a Christmas Shoebox Appeal to fill shoeboxes with essential items such as socks, gloves, dried packet food, toiletteries and small toys for the children.

Hopefully our donation will have gone some way to helping fill these boxes and providing a little bit of something nice to those in need at Christmas.

For more information about Stonepillow, visit their website, or donation through their justgiving page.

Apr 2014 - Jumping for Oakley

Avantguard's patrol driver Mike Cox will soon be throwing himself from a plane for a sponsored skydive.

He is performing this crazy act for a fantasic cause though - to raise money for his sister's nephew Oakley Orange who was recently diagnosed with an horrific and rare condition called Stephens Johnson Syndrome.

Luckily he's now on the road to recovery so for more information about Oakley and this fantastic cause, read our e-shot.

Apr 2013 - 777 Girls on the Run

Following on from last month's news about the Chloe's New Legs appeal, we have heard that the girls from Spirit FM are doing a special sponsored run to raise runds for the appeal.

They are calling it 777 Girls on the Run and the reason it is special is beause they will be running 7km in 7 countries over 7 days. What a fabulous effort - 49km in total and all the driving from country to country in between.

Avantguard are happy to have made a donation to the cause.

For more information on this amazing cause, visit Chloe's New Legs or Spirit FM's 777 page

Mar 2013 - Chloe's New Legs

We recently noticed that we had a lot of old mobile phones lying around gathering dust. Each year, we negotiate our new mobile phone contracts and a pile of new phones arrive in the post and the old phones get boxed up and put at the back of a cupboard to grow old and obsolete.
We decided to try and find a local charity or company that might collect old phones so we put the word out and within a few hours we were told that Spirit FM were collecting old phones for a local charitable cause.
Looking on their website we found out that this appeal is called Chloe's New Legs. Local girl Chloe Humphrey needs to raise £36,000 to go to Bristol and have an operation that will help her walk again.
There are lots of ways to get involved through fundraising events, donations, collections etc., but you can also simply donate old mobile phones, CDs and DVDs so this is what Avantguard are doing.
Why not dig through your cupboards, have a good clear out and help someone to walk again. For more information about the appeal, visit the Spirit FM website or visit Chloe's website.
